Painting is done, Studio is fun!

We need to say thanks to Dennis. Something fell out of his schedule, so he was able to paint our studio on Saturday and Sunday. Other than the drippy priming CJ did, things look really good. We were a little nervous that the first coat of gray on the walls looked a little blue, but after the second coat it is much flatter and very close to the neutral gray (RGB 128,128,128) we were looking for.

These are a couple in-process shots of the dogs checking things out on Saturday night after the first coat on the ceiling and walls:

Dennis finished up Sunday just before we had to leave for the Fall Festival down at Sacred Heart Church of Holy Spirit Parish. After a couple hours working the festival and a few more hours working in the yard, everything was dry enough for us to do a color test. While CJ is always looking at the technical aspects of lighting and color, Nancy wanted to look at different poses, and ways that she could adjust to shooting in a more confined area.

We couldn't come up with any professional models, so we shot each other, which is really good therapy for any married couple, and highly recommended. And when we tired of that, we used a remote shutter trigger to take a couple photos together:

After some quick work in Photoshop, the shirt was much closer to Nancy's eye color. The family's Wheaton Terrier,Chester (the nice dog that everyone loves) is really shy, but Otis (the pain the a#% dog that annoys everyone) got in the action...again:

Nancy's cautiously optimistic, but, like all good husbands should be, CJ is confident and assuring. Nancy was a sport about giving up her "pretty room," but not without a little remorse. It really is a little scary for both of us, but were very pleased when we got the photographs into Lightroom:

We are not done with things, but we want to get a working feel for things before we finalize things. We've got a couple one-light and two-light configurations down, and have played with a third diffuser as a hair light. We're thinking we might want to have a second system holding paper, but we'll have to visit Sean at Everything Photography on Main Street before finalizing any of those decisions.

We have had a couple people on hold while we were getting things set up. Time to get shooting...
