Using Our Gifts and Talents

December 14, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

One of our family values is to challenge ourselves to try new experiences and use our gifts and talents, but...

We'd also like to encourage YOU to USE our gifts and talents.

We know that we give the impression that we are really, really busy, but we're not. Most of the time, we are all sitting around the phone waiting for it to ring or in the office cleaning our lenses.

We have been busy and we do like it. Nancy has embraced the studio and we are gaining efficiency in everything we do; from setting up the lighting...to snapping photos...to post production. And we don't really stop there. We looove collaborating with clients and are willing to help good folks like you in the photo selection process.

We've laughed with families about the stress involved in "Picture Day," since we've been through all of that with our own family. From children not cooperating...to teenagers who apparently have much better things they could be doing...to adults who just don't like to get their picture taken, we know Picture Day can be one of the worst days for a family, especially the moms. (And, as we say around our house: "If mom ain't happy, no one's happy! :-) But it doesn't have to be that way. That's one of the reasons we try to stay flexible, stay loose and make it fun.

We also realize that the ordering part of equation is often cause for anxiety. Good photos are expensive, and there are so many variables it can be overwhelming.

Over the past few years some of our best experiences have been those where we were able to help walk a customer through that process. Coming back to our gifts and talents, Nancy has a good knack for colors, a good eye for photos and a reasonable flair to try something bold and unique. CJ might be a bit more conservative and is more systematical about our photography.

Picture Nancy with dozens of paint swatches and examples of fabric, and CJ on a ladder with tape measure, laser level and stud finder. Thankfully Nancy has learned to hide all the rope in the house before CJ gets up on those ladders!

..like we said, we understand how stressful it can be, and will do whatever we can to assist customers in making good decisions. We've learned a lot of tricks over the years, from sketching out ideas to putting blue tape on walls to visualize the use of space. We can even put your wall color into Photoshop, and "place" photos in different arrangements for you to visual before buying. We know we are gluttons for punishment, but we encourage you to use us while we figure out the best value we can offer, and are still affordable enough. (You don't want to wait until we're famous, that's for sure :-)

We love to use our gifts and talents, and encourage you to do the same. It's what makes us happiest!

We don't want this to be all serious, so we will share a slideshow of some pictures we took the other night. We'll have a lot to share after the Holidays -after clients have ordered lots of photos, photo storybooks and Christmas Cards- but for now, a couple of Tanner's friends and a few more test shots of Nancy and CJ will have to hold you over.

These were shot against a yet a few more new backdrops we just received this past week. Hope you like what you see, and as you are making your New Year's resolutions, don't forget to schedule that Family Portrait that you keep putting off.

We'll be sitting by the phone waiting for your call...ready to share our GIFTS & TALENTS!
